Soft Pastel Hues at Ocean Cliff in Newport

Kaitlin & Robert, our Newport sweethearts, tied the knot in mid-July amongst family and friends. Their love story began in Newport almost a decade ago when they met at college - the thread through their wedding? “We Will Always Have Newport” celebrating the state which brought them together the duo planned an elevated coastal New England garden party wedding at The Ocean Cliff Hotel in Newport.

Kaitlin & her mother, Kristin, involved Three Roots early in the planning process, affording us an opportunity to truly dig into the details and ensure the floral elements were intentional, individual, and heightened.

Working with Kaitlin, Robert, and their families we elected to highlight a pastel rainbow inspired color palette brought to life with classic wedding flowers such as garden roses, hydrangeas and peonies; accented by other delights such as scabiosas, thyme, peach foliage and snapdragons. The floral and foliage selection was garden-centric and brimming with seasonal gems.

No stone was left unturned, and Kaitlin and her mother effortlessly wove together a vision of coastal New England meets contemporary garden party and elected to utilize wicker basket details throughout the wedding day designs.

Their idyllic Newport day was intentionally curated and came to life in dazzling detail. From a bagpipe-filled ceremony to a surprise entrance serenade by the bridesmaids, the couple’s wedding day was a delight. The bride’s sister event composes a custom crest, and it could be found everywhere, from their invitation suite to their espresso martini tower. Shrouded in love by family and friends Kaitlin and Robert’s wedding day was one for the books.

About the Designs: Kaitlin’s family are near and dear Three Roots’ clients! We have had the immense privilege of working four events for their family and friends. Kaitlin KNEW Three Roots would bring the beauty of American-grown flowers to her and Robert’s wedding day. The key? Capturing quintessential New England design sense and elevating it for the modern couple. We leaned into seasonally available flowers that grow across New England and highlighted garden roses, hydrangeas, and peonies; these anchor flowers were accented by tweedia, forget-me-nots, phlox, and abundant foliage. From custom bridesmaid baskets to a bespoke pergola installation, the design suite from top to bottom was curated for Kaitlin and Robert’s wedding day from stem to stem and the final design suite is a testament to the couple’s enduring love for each other and New England.
